A small child and two other people escaped from a house fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The blaze at Kenwood Crescent, in Ingleby Barwick, was the first of two suspected arson attacks in the same street over the last two days. Emergency services were called at around 2:15am in

the early hours of Sunday June 1, when a male started a fire at the letterbox of the property.

The three occupants, including a small child, were able to escape and were taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation before being discharged. A second incident happened around

12:35am today (Monday June 2) where again a male suspect is believed to have approached the front of the property and started a fire before walking away.

The occupant in the address was not hurt but two vehicles were damaged at the front of the property. The male suspect is described as wearing a two-tone jacket, with the hood up.

The stomach area of the jacket was lighter in colour than the chest and arms. These two incidents are being linked at this time, and officers are asking people to check any CCTV or doorbell

footage in the area and to get in touch with any information by calling Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 099370.

Independent charity Crimestoppers can also be contacted online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
