promoted the evolution of life and how that life in turn influences atmospheric and oceanic chemistry. This research is subdivided into: 1) Microbe-metal interactions related to the cycling
of Cu, Fe, As and Si through geological time, with specific aims to develop them as biomarkers for the reconstruction of Earth history. 2) Nutrient cycles of C, S, Fe linked to Earth’s
