In Oklahoma, continued signs of hope and rebuilding are everywhere. Communities affected by severe weather and the devastating tornado of May 2013 are making progress to restore normalcy to
their neighborhoods, one day at the time. WITH THE HELP OF GENEROUS DONORS, WE RAISED MORE THAN $373,900 TO ASSIST DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS, AND WITH A MATCHING GIFT FROM AARP AND AARP
FOUNDATION, WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE MORE THAN $674,000 IN AID FOR AFFECTED COMMUNITIES. These funds fueled the work of local organizations — many of them dedicated to serving the needs of older
adults — in their emergency relief and recovery efforts. The list of supported groups includes: * Aging Services Inc — for funding crucial services for affected seniors * Areawide Aging
Agency, Inc — for household products, transportation needs, debris cleanup and more * Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma — for housing assistance, debris cleanup and home repairs * Legal
Aid Service of Oklahoma — for legal advocacy, including legal services regarding insurance, FEMA appeals, mortgage and foreclosure concerns and frauds/scams * Oklahoma City Community
Foundation — for case management, mental health services and disaster prevention planning * Pottawatomie County United Way — for transportation needs, home and shelter repairs * Rebuilding
Together OKC — for home repairs for seniors 55+ * Red Cross Central Oklahoma – for emergency relief and recovery work * Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma — for food, household products, and
disaster relief supplies * Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command — for disaster preparedness supplies * The Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference — for temporary housing and rental
assistance for Native Americans Find out more how AARP FOUNDATION PROVIDES DISASTER RELIEF and supports seniors recovering from hurricanes, wildfires and other natural disasters.
