Christiaan Van Vuuren was in his late 20s when he went on a big holiday to South America. While he was there he started to feel terribly unwell. He put the symptoms down to smoking and

partying hard, but when he returned to Australia he was diagnosed with drug-resistant tuberculosis. Doctors ordered him to live in quarantine inside a Sydney hospital for six months while

they experimented on his sputum to find a combination of drugs that might help him. After feeling sorry for himself for weeks, Christiaan had a big realisation about his attitude to getting

better. He had an exercise bike brought into his room, and started to make fun videos about his life in quarantine, calling himself the 'Fully Sick Rapper'. The videos quickly went

viral on Youtube, and people from all over the world started talking to Christiaan online. Christiaan then began a new life in acting, writing and performing when he was released from

hospital. FURTHER INFORMATION Find out more about Christiaan's work
