MUM-OF-ONE JANNET, WHO WORKS AT THE QE, SAYS THE MONEY WILL CHANGE HER FAMILY'S LIFE 05:08, 31 May 2025 An ecstatic nurse from Birmingham says she won't quit her job despite
winning £250,000 thanks to her husband's last-minute persuasion. Mum-of-one Jannet Balansag, 30, was ready to scrap her People’s Postcode Lottery subscription until her hubby, Dave
Tagabuhin, also a nurse, talked her out of cancelling. It meant the couple, who both work at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, were among the first to bag the lottery's new monthly prize where
every winning player can scoop a quarter of a million pounds. READ MORE: STRIKING BIRMINGHAM BINMEN MUST OBEY STRICT COURT ORDER OR RISK PRISON AS 'RULE OF SIX' ENFORCED “I almost
cancelled," said Jannet. "But [Dave] told me, 'you’re not going to cancel it'. I’m glad I listened to him now.” Dave, 31, added: "I just told her that no matter what
happens, just keep going, because some of the money is going to charities as well." Article continues below Jannet and three neighbours were celebrating after B31 4JU was announced as
the winning postcode of this month's prize. The couple say they want to use the money to buy their first family car and take a dream trip to Vatican City. They also plan to reunite with
their family in the Philippines. They said the huge prize will transform their lives and will help with planning their one-year-old daughter Jada’s future. Jannet, a nurse at the
hospital's intensive treatment unit, added: “We both work full-time, and we do alternate shifts at the hospital, so we only see each other on Sundays. “Sometimes we don’t even see each
other for the whole week because Dave will be picking up some extra shifts. “Now we’ll have more quality time with this money. I’ll get to see my daughter more often.” Dave, who works on the
stroke unit, added: “It’s properly life-changing for us. We can pay some of our mortgage, maybe even make an extension to the house, and we’ll all be together much more. “And we don’t own a
car – so we’ll buy one for sure.” The couple, who moved to the UK five years ago, told how they haven’t seen their family in more than two years – but they plan to fly back next month.
Jannet said: “It’s just the perfect timing. We’ll be able to see our family for the first time in two years and they’ll meet our daughter which will be very special." Despite becoming a
quarter-millionaire, Jannet has no intention of leaving nursing. She said: “I won’t be stopping work because I love my job. Our passion is helping people. "When my dad got sick I
wanted to help and thought it would be amazing to have someone in the family who can really look after people. Article continues below “Maybe this is like our good karma. We’ve never asked
for much and this money is more than we've ever dreamed of.”
