arrested in connection with a crash that caused the death of a Birmingham pensioner near a retail park. Pedestrian Wynford “Willie” Griffiths was struck by a car at the junction of Audley


Road and Flaxley Road in Stechford, close to the Stechford Retail Park, shortly after 9pm on Sunday, February 9. The car left the scene and Mr Griffiths, aged 71, died at the scene despite

arrested three men, aged 29, 31, and 32, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, on Thursday (June 5). Article continues below One of the men is also being questioned on


suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. Mr Griffiths family had issued a statement following his death and said: “"Our beautiful brother, uncle and great uncle has been


taken away from us in such an awful way. “Our world has been turned upside down with what you have done to our family.” West Midlands Police said the family has been informed of the arrests.


In a statement, a spokesperson for the force said: “We’ve arrested three men following the tragic death of 71-year-old Wynford “Willie” Griffiths in Stechford. “The collision happened on


Audley Road on 9 February, and specialist investigators have been working tirelessly since then to establish the circumstances around what happened, recovering a vehicle as part of the


investigation. “This morning (June 5), following warrants at three addresses in Birmingham, officers arrested three men aged 29, 31, and 32. “They are currently in custody being questioned


on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, while one is also being questioned on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. “Mr Griffiths’ family has been informed of this


development, and our thoughts remain with them at this tragic time. “We will continue to keep in contact with them as our investigation continues. Article continues below “We are still
