SOME OF THE BIGGEST INTERNET PROVIDERS HAVE CLAUSES IN THEIR CONTRACTS ALLOWING BUMPS IN PRICE AFTER SIGNING 11:40, 04 Jun 2025 Hyperoptic is introducing mid-contract price rises, raising

costs by as much as 12% for some contracts. The full fibre broadband provider will also raise its monthly subscription by £3 a month from April 2026, for customers joining from 3rd June

'BEFORE START OF SUMMER' WITH EASY MOVE 500Mb Ultrafast per month will rise from £31 to £34, a 10% jump, while those paying for 1Gb Hyperfast will will costs go from £35 to £38, a

9% rise. The rise in costs has been met with criticism, as Alex Tofts, Strategist at Broadband Genie, shared the "disappointment" over the news. Article continues below He

explained: “We’re disappointed to see Hyperoptic join the long list of providers that raise prices for its customers before they reach the end of their deal. This price increase represents a

gigantic price jump of 12% for customers wishing to subscribe to their most affordable deals. “All mid-contract price rises achieve is concern and confusion for customers. The only way we

can make true progress and do justice for bill payers is for Ofcom to step up and outright ban these shameful price rises. “For existing customers of Hyperoptic, there is no need to panic.

The price you pay won’t increase, at least until you reach the end of your contract. "But If you would rather your provider didn’t hike up your contract price, there are options out on

the market. Providers such as BeFibre, toob and YouFibre, and more have committed to fixed contract pricing." Lutfu Kitapci, CCO and MD at Hyperoptic said: “For years, broadband

consumers have had to deal with unknown price increases in the middle of their contract and we are proud to have campaigned and supported the ban of this unfair practice. "Price changes

however are not uncommon, for example after introductory pricing, discounted months and other offers. Article continues below "To remain competitive in the current environment, we will

be introducing an annual increase of £3 from April 2026, for customers joining from 3rd June 2025. “Existing customers will not be affected by the annual increase, unless they switch to a

new minimum term. "Customers on the Fair Fibre plan will also not be affected by this change. We are confident that this move will help customers to make a fair comparison when choosing

their next broadband provider.”
