'banal' final exchange. Michael, known for appearances on This Morning and The One Show, met a tragic end last June while holidaying on the Greek island of Symi. The 67 year old
went missing during the trip after setting off for a walk and was found deceased days later following extensive search efforts. READ MORE Body of Brit who vanished on New Year's Day
during hiking trip with pal found in Italy Dr Clare Bailey Mosley has now shared the events of last year when she and her husband arrived by ferry on the evening of June 4 to stay at a
friend's villa in Symi. She heartbreakingly revealed they hadn't even been on the island for 24 hours before Michael vanished. Article continues below She said: "We'd
only been there for half a day before it happened." She recounted that after they had settled in, enjoyed some reading and a swim in the pool, Michael grew restless as he wasn't
enjoying his book and disliked spending time on the beach. "So he said, 'I'm going exploring. I'm off for a walk," Dr Clare remembered, noting that she handed her
husband her bottle of water and mentioned he took an umbrella for sun protection. The bereaved wife described how her late husband departed from the villa at 1.30pm, having been given
"instructions on where to walk" and "set off at a good pace, his rucksack on his back, up a steep hill," reports the Mirror. Clare mentioned that Michael left his phone
behind because he "didn't want to risk it getting wet on the boat." Remembering their final moments together, Clare described: "It was just an ordinary exchange of words
as he went off for his walk. Very banal. I don't think there was even a kiss." While Michael set off for a walk, Clare and a mate took pleasure in the afternoon at the beach before
heading home. Upon their return, they became anxious realising that her husband wasn't back yet. "When we got there and found that Michael wasn't back we were concerned.
"Had he walked directly, he'd have been there in under an hour," Clare shared with the Daily Mail. It was then they went to a police station to report Michael missing.
However, they hit a snag as the police mentioned they couldn't take any action until 48 hours had lapsed post his disappearance - ratcheting up Clare's concern amidst blistering
heat of 40C. "I had to push really hard, but finally they agreed to get a local search-and-rescue team out," Clare stated. Tragically, Michael's body was found on June 9. In
December 2024, the cause of death remained a mystery after a coroner's report. The senior coroner for Buckinghamshire, Crispin Butler, announced Dr Mosley's death was marked as
"indeterminate" with the prime suspect being heatstroke or an unidentified pathological cause. His statement indicated: "No medical cause of death could be ascertained,
meaning Michael's death may have been due to a medical event or as a result of a non-traumatic accident." Clare fondly remembered her husband, calling him "a maverick, a bit
of a risk-taker." Article continues below She shared her reflections on Michael saying, "He pushed boundaries. I loved him for that; it made him so special. He was unorthodox and
just so brilliant."
