Manning/PA Wire) Police are set to call off the investigation into the Madeleine McCann case today, if nothing of significant interest is discovered.
The search of abandoned buildings near to Praia da Luz began on Tuesday, June 3, led by German and Portuguese police forces.
An investigation team has been witnessed employing a series of devices including diggers, strimmers, shovels and chainsaws in a bid to clear the area.
Wells, ruins, water tanks and around 21 pieces of land have been examined during this period, with samples of potential 'evidence' reportedly being taken from the scene.

The latest search for Madeleine McCann forms part of an 18 year long search for the then-three-year old, who disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in the Algarve.

A source close to the newspaper said: “There are currently no plans to extend and if the situation remains the same the search will end this evening.
“It’s very disappointing but nothing taken away from the search area so far has provided any clues.”
Images of investigators working at the scene have been captured as the search continues throughout the day today.
In the latest development, an individual who says he knows the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine has claimed police are looking in the wrong area.

Ken Ralphs told GB News he knew an alleged accomplice to Christian Brueckner who once broke down in tears and confessed to a plan to abduct a child in Praia da Luz, the Express said.
The man said: "He cried that he needed the money to get out the country with his family and children and that's why he got involved."
He continued: "For over 18 years, I've pressed the police and all they can do is blame each other for not passing this information on."
Article continues below Christian Brueckner is the prime suspect in the case, who is currently in jail for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005.
Mr Brueckner is due to be released from prison in September, if no other charges are brought against him.
