It’s set to be another busy summer transfer window for Aston Villa, who missed out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the season. In the past two transfer windows, Villa

have raised over £200 million in player sales, but they will need to continue selling to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. Villa also need to trim their wage

bill, which exceeded 90 per cent of revenue last season. UEFA permits a wage-to-revenue ratio of 70 per cent. Emi Martinez could leave in the summer window, with interest coming from Europe,

including Atletico Madrid, as well as from the Saudi Pro League. Robin Olsen has already left the club for Malmö after his contract expired at the end of the season, meaning Villa may need

to buy two goalkeepers this summer. Joe Gauci will return from a loan spell at Barnsley, but last term, Unai Emery preferred Olsen ahead of him in the pecking order. Villa are also

reportedly looking to bring in another defender, with Enzo Boyomo and Cristhian Mosquera among a long list of targets. Axel Disasi is heading back to Chelsea after his loan spell, which cost

Villa around £5 million for the second half of the campaign. At left-back, Villa will likely need to recruit another defender, as Lucas Digne has only one year remaining on his contract and

could depart. This window is realistically the last opportunity for Villa to recoup funds from Digne, who will turn 32 this year. Villa’s other two loanees, Marcus Rashford and Marco

Asensio, both made strong impacts after joining the club. Rashford wants Champions League football and posted a farewell message on Instagram on Monday, so it is highly unlikely he will join

Villa permanently for £40 million. That leaves another position Villa must fill, as Emery did not trust Donyell Malen to compete with Ollie Watkins up front last season. Marco Asensio,

meanwhile, could return to the club for a reasonable fee, considering he has one year left on his contract at Paris Saint-Germain. Emery wanted to sign him on a free transfer two years ago,

but Asensio opted to join the French giants instead. Whether the 29-year-old signs or not, that's another hole in the team which needs to be filled in the coming weeks and months. Leon

Bailey is another player expected to depart this summer, though Malen may have already taken his spot in the squad. Despite that, at least one more forward will be needed given the loss of

Rashford and the likely departure of Bailey, as Villa will need a strong squad to compete on all fronts again. WHAT BUSINESS MUST VILLA COMPLETE THIS SUMMER? TELL US HERE This article
