The former Holden manufacturing plant in South Australia is being given a new life ,with the power of V8 engines replaced by gigawatts from a giant battery. CEP.Energy, a company chaired by
former NSW Labor premier Morris Iemma, plans to build a 150MW battery at the former home of Australia’s Holden vehicles. The battery is part of the company’s plans to build 2GW of big
battery capacity around Australia. The development was announced by CEP.Energy following its inking of a 45-year lease agreement with Pelligra Group, the current owners of the iconic former
GMH factory site in the outer Adelaide suburb of Elizabeth. The site will be renamed the Lionsgate Energy Storage System and will include up to 200,000 square metres of rooftop solar with up
to 24MW of capacity, making it the largest such system in Australia. _Image from BCGHQ on Wikimedia Commons, used under CC BY-SA 4.0 licence._
