THE MET OFFICE IS PREDICTING A MINI HEATWAVE ACROSS THE UK RIGHT BEFORE JUNE WITH TEMPERATURES SET TO RISE AND THE SUN SET TO SHINE. 13:56, 28 May 2025 Many areas of the UK are due for a
"mini heatwave" this weekend as we head into summer. With June comes the arrival of much warmer weather up and down the country, at least for a little while. This time of year is
known for "changeable" weather, meaning where it feels like you can get four seasons in a single day. One thing that isn't changing this weekend, is the chance of high
temperatures, though it isn't all good news. The time the heatwave is expected to hit is from May 29, with temperatures in the region nearing 20°C, especially near central Newcastle.
While not windy, there will be a definite breeze over the next few days which could help people cool off a little in the warmer temperatures. Though if you wanted a half-term trip to the
beach, the coast from Whitby to Berwick reads 17°C until Saturday, when it jumps up to around 20°C. The Met Office forecast states: "A dry start Saturday, a band of heavy showers
later." Those showers aren't due until the evening, so don't worry, you can still get the most out of the warm weather. OUR CHRONICLELIVE DAILY NEWSLETTER IS FREE. YOU CAN

"Becoming windy Sunday with further heavy showers" but one word sums up the weekend forecast: "Warm." WXChart, who get their data from MetDesk, show the hotspots across
the country, with the East getting the bulk of the favourable weather. As you move south, the temperatures predictably go up, but not by a massive margin. Despite entering summer months at
the end of the week, the outlook for June isn't all that great. From Sunday, June 1, the weather will continue to be changeable with spells of rain hitting the country and strong winds
across the northwest, while the south can expect drier interludes, the Met Office said. The long-range forecast for the first 10 days of June reads: "Temperatures are expected to be
around or a little above normal overall, but will be cooler in any prolonged periods of rainfall. Article continues below Meanwhile, there is the possibility of some very warm or even hot
conditions developing later in this period, especially in the south, and these bring with them the chance of thunderstorms." According to the Mirror, the surge in temperatures is
reportedly due to warm weather carried over the Caribbean by the Gulf jet stream.
