THERE IS MAJOR DISRUPTION ACROSS THE LNER AND LUMO ROUTE DUE TO SEVERAL TRAINS HAVING FAULTS 10:28, 24 May 2025Updated 13:01, 24 May 2025 Sunderland fans travelling to Wembley today
experienced delays and disruption after cancellations on LNER and Lumo trains. The Black Cats will take on Sheffield United in the play-off final in London, but some fans travelling down by
train were faced with the possibility of being left stranded. There was "major disruption" across London North Eastern Railway due to faults with trains, with operator Lumo also
experiencing problems. Posting on X, LNER said: "We are experiencing major disruption across the LNER route due to several trains having faults. You can defer travel until tomorrow if
preferred and for travel today please check our website for the latest updates and further information." Deferring travel by one day was obviously not an option for fans hoping to get
to Wembley by 3pm kick-off. LNER said for those who have to travel today, train services are "likely to be extremely busy and subject to delay and / or cancellation". The
cancellations came as more trains than usual were needing repairs on the East Coast Main Line . As a result, LNER and Lumo services operating to and from London Kings Cross were facing
cancellations or revised. Disruption was expected until the end of the day but issues were fortunately rectified by midday. OUR SUNDERLAND LIVE NEWSLETTER IS FREE. YOU CAN SIGN UP TO RECEIVE

was now in "a good position with no major disruption". More than 40,000 fans are expected to be heading to the capital to support the Black Cats as they take on Sheffield United in
the English Football League (EFL) Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday.
