ROSALIND FITZGERALD AND SARAH CRAWFORD HAD BEEN TO AN ALL-NIGHT PARTY WHEN THEY WERE SPOTTED BY DISGUSTED PASSERS-BY PARTICIPATING IN A 'SEXUAL ACT' 18:52, 20 May 2025 Two women

left passers-by disgusted when they performed a sex act on each other in a shop doorway as children walked to school. Sarah Crawford and Rosalind Fitzgerald were heavily intoxicated having

been to an all-night party when they started groping each other outside the store on York Road, in Birtley. A court heard that the pair then took part in a sex act at 8.45am and in full view

of members of the public. One shocked onlooker was so disgusted, they rang the police. Crawford, 39, of Bardolph Road, in North Shields, and Fitzgerald, 42, of Beacon Lough Road, in Low

Fell, Gateshead, were later arrested and charged with outraging public decency, which they each pleaded guilty to at a previous hearing. The pair were in the dock at Newcastle

Magistrates' Court this week for sentence. Prosecutor, Paul Anderson, said the women had been at a party until the morning of December 11 last year. Mr Anderson continued:

"Essentially, both parties had been to an all-night party, drinking into the early hours. They then engaged in the conduct you have heard about outside a shop at 8.45am to the disgust

of passers-by. Article continues below KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND TOP STORIES FROM THE NORTH EAST WITH OUR FREE NEWSLETTER "Also, at that time of day, there

would have been children going to school." Magistrates heard that Fitzgerald, who already owes £12,000 to the courts, had a number of difficulties in her life and had pleaded guilty at

the first opportunity. Article continues below Alanna Wesencraft, defending Fitzgerald, said: "She's incredibly disgusted in herself. She's lightly convicted and was last

before the courts in 2019." Magistrates gave her a 12-month community order and fined her £120. Andy O'Hanlon, defending Crawford, applied for an adjournment so a pre-sentence

report could be prepared on his client. Magistrates agreed and released Crawford on bail to next appear back at the same court on July 4. JOIN OUR WHATSAPP COMMUNITIES ChronicleLive is now
