THE TWO SHOWS WILL BE CUT TO MAKE MORE ROOM FOR GOOD MORNING BRITAIN 17:39, 20 May 2025 Two of the biggest daytime TV shows on ITV are getting cut back, with nearly half of their airtime
stopped. Lorraine and Loose Women, two of the most popular daytime TV shows in the UK have found themselves victim of ITV cuts, as the broadcaster works to save money. The new schedule sees
Good Morning Britain take advantage of the extra airtime. Under the new schedule for 2026, Lorraine Kelly's programme will leave its regular hour-long 9am slot in favour of a reduced
timeframe from 9.30am to 10am, but only on a seasonal rotation for 30 weeks annually. In periods when Lorraine isn't airing, Good Morning Britain will stretch from 6am right through to
10am. Further alterations see Loose Women continue an hour-long episode from 12.30pm, yet similarly running seasonally for 30 weeks per year, reports the Express. Each show is seeing 22
weeks, or 110 episodes, cut from their yearly schedule. Article continues below Kevin Lygo, managing director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, said: "Daytime is a really
important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love
from the presenters they know and trust, as well as generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres. "These changes also allow us to
consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need
accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever." Mr Lygo added: "I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams, and we will
work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition. "Daytime has been a core element of
ITV's schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award-winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade." It was
also announced today that ITV Studios will no longer make Good Morning Britain but instead it will be made by ITN. Article continues below The change will form part of a renewed agreement
between ITV and ITN. ITN will produce national, international, London, and digital news for ITV for the next five years, with options to extend. JOIN OUR WHATSAPP COMMUNITIES ChronicleLive
