A YEAR AFTER HIS EXIT FROM THE NEWCASTLE FILMED BBC SHOW JEFF NORTH WAS BACK ON DUTY FOR LOOK NORTH AT THE WEEKEND 18:55, 26 May 2025Updated 19:34, 26 May 2025 Much to the delight of the

viewers who were gutted to see him go last year, Jeff Brown made a 'shock return' to Look North at the weekend, as his beloved Sunderland clinched promotion to the Premier League

after victory in the Championship play-off final. Having been a popular anchor on the programme for 21 years, It was Jeff himself who broke the news that he was leaving Look North, taking to

X in March 2024 to write; "News just in…after nearly 21yrs with BBC Look North ⁦ @BBCLN I’m moving on. Projects in the pipeline with BBC & others, but (as you can see) it’s been

fun, and a huge, wonderful part of my life. Thanks for watching." Royal Television Society award-winning broadcaster Jeff's final appearances on Look North arrived a few weeks

later, with long serving colleague Carol Malia left wiping away tears as she said her goodbyes to him on camera and viewers at home quick to shared their sadness over his exit, as well as

commending all his hard work, under Jeff's posts on social media. Despite Look North being filmed in the BBC studios just outside Newcastle city centre, Jeff never made an secret about

the fact his loyalties were very much red and white, rather than black and white; meaning he was delighted to take his seat in the press area at Wembley at the weekend as Sunderland made a

return to the Premiership for the first time since 2017, thanks to Tommy Watson securing a 2-1 win over Sheffield United with a great strike deep into added on time. Prior to appearing on

screen to feedback on the big game, Jeff uploaded a shot of himself in his seat at Wembley onto X (Twitter) and wrote: 'Came off the bench for (probably) my final stint in the Wembley

press box. And what a way to sign off! Match report on tonight’s BBC Look North.' Article continues below His followers were delighted he was back on the show, with one replying:

'good to see you Jeff' as another simply responded: 'Legend.' Many other SAFC supporters were also quick to share in Jeff's delight, with one commenting:
