THE MEASURE HAS BEEN APPROVED BY SPAIN'S MINISTRY OF HEALTH THIS WEEK. AND THE MOVE AIMS TO EXPAND SMOKE-FREE ZONES TO INCLUDE TERRACES, BUS STOPS, WORK VEHICLES, UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES,
PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS AND OPEN-AIR NIGHTCLUBS. 11:36, 30 May 2025 Brits holidaying in Spain could be slapped with a ban on smoking, preventing them from indulging their habit around hotel
pools, outdoor clubs, and even sunny terraces and balconies. The stringent clampdown has been issued as a warning to those hitting Spanish shores. The Spanish Ministry of Health has given
its official nod to the new measure this week. Determined to broaden smoke-free environments, the country is set to outlaw smoking in various public spaces including terraces, bus shelters,
company vehicles, university grounds, communal swimming pools and al fresco nightclubs. In her remarks to El Pais, Mónica García, the Spanish Health Minister, shared her committed stance
by pushing legislation so that "Spain can once again be at the forefront of anti-tobacco policies." She added: "I hope we don't give in to the lobbies that are exerting
significant pressure, as they always have. And the tobacco lobby is doing its job. But ours is to defend the health of the population, of the citizens." WE HAVE A DEDICATED NEWSLETTER

measure is part of the council's policy to position ourselves as a benchmark for healthy international tourism.", reports Birmingham Live. Recent survey data reveals the extent of
tobacco use among Balearic students between 14 and 18 years old, where 34.5 per cent acknowledge smoking at some point, and 6.9 percent reportedly smoked daily over the past month. Article

prevention and to promote healthy lifestyles is ground gained". One Brit posted online: "This morning I had just sat down at a table of a restaurant terrace. At the adjacent table
. an obese woman suddenly started smoking and her exhaled smoke went all over me. I had ordered a coffee. But I left." A second commentator raged: "As a lot of police smoke I
can't really see this ban being enforced that much outside bars and nightclubs,". A third remarked: "Like the law that was in place before then, that this government decided
to overturn, because you know, it was the other lot's idea."
