A VEGAN FAMILY SENT A FINAL WARNING TO THEIR MEAT-LOVING NEIGHBOURS FOR IGNORING THEIR REQUEST TO CLOSE THEIR WINDOW DURING MEAT COOKING, LEADING TO A STERN FOLLOW-UP NOTE AFTER A BBQ WAS

HELD 15:22, 19 May 2025Updated 15:22, 19 May 2025 A dispute over a shared letter pleading to cease BBQs and close windows during meat cooking has been widely shared on social media and

divided opinions. A vegan family has been left angry after claiming their written pleas to a meat-loving neighbouring household were ignored, resulting in a second, more direct note being

sent. They had written: "Hello neighbour, could you please shut your side window when cooking please? My family are vegan (we eat only plant-based foods) and the smell of the meat you

cook makes us feel sick and upset. We would appreciate your understanding." This initial polite request for the window to be closed during meat cooking sparked controversy online,

drawing support from some people for the vegans' "reasonable" request and calls from others for the meat-eating family to continue enjoying cooking without constraints. The

initial friendly communication was met with silence. Despite the divided opinion, this inspired the plant-based family to write a "last warning" note after their initial respectful

plea was disregarded, reports Edinburgh Live. They expressed their distress in stronger terms by saying: "I raised my concerns of the smell of meat making my family feel sick and upset

and you go and have a barbecue on Saturday night inviting lots of people, and you knew this would affect me and my family." Article continues below The family were later made aware

that the letters to the meat-eating household had been shared online, with a family member sharing that a friend had made them aware and describing the backlash against the vegans as

"just desserts". One individual branded the complaint absurd, saying: "This is unbelievable, they want to tell you how to live in your own home.". Another commentator

criticised the lack of community spirit, arguing: "They are both in the wrong! It's such a shame that this is our society now no commUNITY!" What do you think? Share your
