THE MAGPIES ARE SET TO SIGN A NEW GOALKEEPER THIS SUMMER BUT MUST MAKE A DECISION ON ANOTHER BACK-UP MAN FIRST 10:00, 27 May 2025Updated 11:09, 27 May 2025 Newcastle United are grappling

with Arsenal and Aston Villa to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia - according to reports in Spain. The 24-year-old has also been linked with Barcelona but is understood to favour a move

to the Premier League. Garcia has a £21million release clause and is ready to quite his current side. The Magpies would need to offload at least one keeper to make the deal realistic with

Odysseas Vlachodimos the favourite to leave St James' Park after a rushed move to Newcastle from Nottingham Forest last June did not work out. The Greek international is likely to be

sold or loaned out in the coming weeks while Martin Dubravka is another who could go despite signing a new deal only in January. When asked if Newcastle are in a position to facilitate any

keeper that demands to be No 1, Howe told Chronicle Live earlier this month: "Oh you've jumped a few levels there. As I say I don't go through the rumours so I have no idea we

are linked with goalkeepers. "I don't think it is the right time to comment on that. We have some very good goalkeepers at the football club who have done brilliantly this year so

I'd rather celebrate them." Howe admitted last week that change in his goalkeeper department is likely in the summer with Martin Dubravka and Odysseas Vlachodimos tipped to leave

Tyneside. On the domestic front, Newcastle have been admirers of Burnley's James Trafford and Southampton's Aaron Ramsdale. In Ligue 1, Newcastle are believed to have taken a look

at Ivory Coast and Angers keeper Yahia Fofana while the Spanish Press have said that Howe likes Espanyol stopper Garcia for a number of weeks now. The Magpies have not reacted to the new

wave of reports from Spain that Garcia is being talked to. _Here at ChronicleLive, we are dedicated to bringing you the best NEWCASTLE UNITED coverage and analysis._ _Make sure you
