Sunderland's upcoming EFL Championship play-off final opponents, Sheffield United, have had their X (formerly known as Twitter) account hacked in the build-up to Saturday's

much-anticipated game. The Black Cats confirmed a spot in the much-anticipated Wembley Stadium showpiece on Saturday, May 24 by defeating Coventry City at the Stadium of Light via a

last-gasp Dan Ballard header. Meanwhile, meeting them will be Chris Wilder's Blades, who easily dispatched Bristol City over two legs. For both clubs, the focus will be on training hard

and giving their all to ensure promotion back to England's top-flight. However, as a club Sheffield United, have been given an unwanted headache to negotiate beforehand. Their official

X account, @SheffieldUnited - which is also marked by a gold verified badge - was taken over by an unknown user temporarily. Barry Bannan, captain of bitter local rivals Sheffield

Wednesday, was targeted in several of the messages shared across the time the account was compromised before others were shared, this acting as an example; Another user interacting with the

account had requested a score prediction for the play-off final. The hacked account replied: "Oh s***. Just figured out we're playing a final. Against Sunderland? "Is this a

Metaverse? Easy win. 3x1 us with the bless of BBB (Bald Barry Bannan)." Ultimately, Sheffield United media staff ended up gaining access to the account again - and released a statement

online following the breach. Article continues below "#SUFC can confirm that the account has been reclaimed, and all posts made by the hackers have been removed. "The club would

like to apologise to anyone offended by what the hackers posted to our page; these posts do not represent the views of anyone at Sheffield United," the statement read. JOIN OUR
