THE HIGH STREET BAKERY CHAIN HAS REMOVED ONE OF THE ITEMS FROM ITS LUNCHTIME MENU NATIONWIDE - AND IT HAS LEFT FANS 'DEVASTATED' 13:03, 03 Jun 2025 Greggs has removed a favoured

item from its lunchtime selection, leaving its devotees "devastated". The beloved high street bakery has withdrawn the Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite from its offerings across the

country. Introduced back in 2016, the Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite combined grilled chicken with fresh salad leaves, tomato, cucumber slices, all brought together with a dollop of honey

mustard mayonnaise nestled within a seeded oval roll. This particular option was part of Greggs' push towards healthier lunchtime alternatives, featuring an array of items such as

sandwiches, salads, soups, and even some sweet selections, each coming under 400 calories. Additionally, these options adhered to the amber and green categories according to the Food

Standards Agency's traffic light system concerning fat content, saturated fat, salt, and sugar levels. Priced at around £3.35 with 361 calories, the Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite has made

way for a new addition, the Roast Chicken Salad Roll, which debuted this May. The latest creation, setting you back £2.90, includes roast chicken breast slices accompanied by tomatoes,

cucumber, mixed leaf salad, and is finished off with a seasoned mayo, all encased in a white and wholemeal bread roll, reports the Mirror. Despite the replacement being quite similar to its

predecessor, ardent fans of the Chain are anything but pleased about the discontinuation. A disgruntled rabbit enthusiast took to Reddit earlier in the week, enquiring about the sudden

disappearance of the cherished bite. WE HAVE A DEDICATED NEWSLETTER FOR WHAT’S ON NEWS AND REVIEWS. IT’S FREE AND YOU CAN SIGN UP TO RECEIVE IT HERE. IT WILL KEEP YOU UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE

different Greggs locations in the past week and they haven't had the Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite in stock. They don't even have the little name tag on shelves, are they axing this?

It was my favourite since I was wee and I'd be devastated lol." Another added their own frustration: "Aye, can't find it in any I've been in." Supplementing

these comments, a third expressed: "Ffs that was my idea of a healthy option. Two sausage rolls it is then." Greggs is known for periodically revamping its range of offerings,

sometimes reintroducing products that had been previously shelved – leaving room for hope that the beloved Chargrill Chicken Oval Bite could one day reappear. In recent developments, Greggs

reported the inauguration of 20 fresh high street outlets within this fiscal period. With the addition of these new shops, Greggs signals its ambition to launch a further 150 locations

throughout the year. The bakery giant now operates 2,638 storefronts and aims to enhance its presence to over 4,500 venues nationwide. The latest updates reveal that new store openings

contributed to a robust 7.4% uplift in overall revenue, crossing the £784million threshold within the initial 20 weeks of the current year. Article continues below CHRONICLELIVE HAS CREATED

Greggs attributes this surge in business to its diversified menu options. In conjunction with this, the chain has also embraced extended trading hours into the evening, bolstered delivery

sales through Just Eat and Uber Eats collaborations, and the introduction of the Greggs App has evidently paid dividends.
