UNITED AIRLINES WILL OPERATE FOUR WEEKLY RETURN FLIGHTS DURING SPRING AND SUMMER A new route between France and the United States will start in 2025, with United Airlines announcing their
plans to operate four weekly flights between Nice and Washington D.C during spring and summer. The vast majority of flights between the United States and France pass through Paris Charles de
Gaulle, which has seen its role as an international hub expand since Air France started to withdraw its services from regional airports in 2024. Nice Côte d’Azur airport has become an
exception in this regard, and continues to offer direct routes to the US, with Delta Air Lines operating seven weekly flights to Nice from New York. The announcement of a new United Airlines
route between Nice and Washington D.C comes as a further boost to the Alpes-Maritimes airport, which recently began work on a 25,000m² expansion to Terminal 2 with the aim of increasing its
annual capacity to 18 million passengers. “We are delighted to announce this expansion of our network between the United States and France and the launch of United's first service
between Nice and Washington D.C.,” announced the airport on October 10. The new flights will start on May 24 and run until September 25, 2025, departing Washington D.C. on Mondays,
Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 17:20 and arriving in Nice at 8:00 local time. The flights from Nice will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 10:05, arriving in
Washington D.C. at 13:55 local time. Tickets are already on sale, and cost €405 from Washington D.C. and €1,272 from Nice. The price is higher when flying from Nice due to both demand and
French taxes on air travel - in particular the impôt sur les infrastructures de transport de longue distance (tax on long-distance transport infrastructure).
