AS RAIL STRIKE CONTINUES, NEWSPAPER REPORTS SUGGEST AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS ARE ALSO SET TO WALK OUT LATER THIS MONTH THE RAIL strike will continue into a ninth day, it has been confirmed,
after members of the CGT and SUD-Rail unions voted in favour of yet another extension. The dispute, which has so far cost SNCF an estimated €140million. That cost is expected to rise
further, as the train operator has said that it will offer 33% discounts on monthly rail tickets for July - equivalent, it said, to 10 days’ free travel. And the travel situation in France
could be about to get worse. Les Echos has reported that air traffic controllers have threatened to strike between June 24 and June 29 in protest at EU plans to cut costs.
