Popular 100-year-old coventry pub closes with emotional message

A 100-year-old Coventry pub has closed. The Hastings Tavern, on Clay Lane, shut its doors to customers for the final time at the end of April. The pub, which is understood to date back to


the mid 1920s, has been a mainstay in the local community and a much needed outlet for socialising in an area which has seen the loss of several pubs in recent years. According to the


pub's Facebook account, the establishment has been boarded up, with its future currently uncertain. We've approached Admiral Taverns for a comment - we have also contacted the

pub's social media channels on April 30 said: "I’d like to take this opportunity to say thankyou to you all for making the last week so special and thank you for the many cards and


for my presents it was great to see everyone and a few old faces too. "Thanks to everyone for their help these last few days it was a challenge - we got there in the end we’re forever
