It's not just the kitchen where things heat up for celebrity chef Matt Preston.

On Wednesday, the MasterChef judge recalled the awkward moment that his best friend asked for permission to date his ex-girlfriend.

Speaking to Nova's Fitzy & Wippa, Matt said he gave his mate the OK to date his ex-girlfriend Michelle and the pair hit it off.

The esteemed gourmand confirmed that it didn't take long to replace Michelle. 

'When I was done with her I traded her for a very nice girl', he beamed, adding: 'I've now come back to know her, she  lives in Mumbai, and she sent me a note the other day, and now we ended

up being friends again so it's lovely.'

Oh dear! 'Your best mate stole the love of your life,' Wippa said 'You know there's a cookbook in this,' Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald replied.

'Yeah, called 'My Exes!'' Wippa interjected.
