A NEW IALA APPROVED (INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MARINE AIDS TO NAVIGATION AND LIGHTHOUSE AUTHORITIES) TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM HAS BEEN INTRODUCED. 15:02, 29 May 2025 The Port of Troon Harbour


Authority has issued a special notice to mariners using the area, advising them of a new traffic light system which is now in operation. A new IALA approved (International Association of


Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities) traffic light system has been introduced at the Port of Troon. And all mariners using the harbour are being encouraged to understand the


new system which is now in place. A note issued to mariners from the Port of Troon Harbour Authority states: “Mariners are advised that a new IALA approved traffic light system has been


introduced at the Port of Troon. “The new traffic light system is designed to enhance safety and improve traffic management within the harbour.” The details of the new traffic light system


are as follows: Article continues below Entrance/Exit of the Harbour (West Pier): • Clear to proceed: 3 all-round lights in a vertical line (Green, White, Green) • Not clear to proceed: 3

continues: “All vessels in the area are to navigate with extreme caution and comply with the new traffic light signals as well as instructions from Troon Port Control on VHF CH 14 whilst


entering and exiting the harbour. “As a reminder, clearance should be sought from Troon Port Control before proceeding inwards or outwards. Article continues below “Mariners should


familiarise themselves with the new light signals and their meanings to ensure safe navigation. The lights are strategically placed to be visible from a distance, providing clear guidance to


vessels approaching the harbour. “Failure to comply with the new IALA traffic light system and or any instructions regarding any vessel movements will invoke the ABP’s enforcement policy


and could result in prosecution.” The notice also advises owners, agents, charterers, marinas, yacht clubs and recreational sailing organisations to ensure that the contents of the notice


are known to the masters or persons in charge of their vessel, or craft.
