WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON ST FILLAN'S BRIDGE ON THE A78 BETWEEN LARGS AND SKELMORLIE THIS WEEKEND. 15:30, 30 May 2025 Ayrshire motorists are being warned to expect disruption as a


section of the A78 is to undergo bridge upgrades. "Essential parapet upgrades" will take place overnight at St Fillan's Bridge - also spelt St Phillan's - between Largs


and Skelmorlie on Sunday, June 1. Lane closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am while the works are ongoing. The road is expected to be open as normal from Monday morning, June 2, once


the works are completed. Trunk road operator Amey said the works would improve the "condition and safety" of the road at St Fillan's. However, Amey did not say if there would

maintained throughout these works. "Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. "This scheme will


benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition and safety of the carriageway structure and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future."
