STAGECOACH HAVE ISSUED A STATEMENT AS THEY SEEK A RESOLUTION TO THE DISRUPTION CAUSED BY STRIKE ACTION IN AYRSHIRE. 13:50, 30 May 2025 Stagecoach have called for a meeting with Unite ahead

of a second day of strikes which would again decimate bus services in Ayrshire. The company today, Friday, May 30, issued a statement saying they were "extremely disappointed" that

discussion with Unite had so far been fruitless. Bus drivers at Stagecoach's Ardrossan, Arran, Ayr and Kilmarnock depots are due to walk out again on Monday after pay negotiations

between Stagecoach and Unite broke down. On Monday, May 26, 41 Stagecoach services across Ayrshire cancelled for the day while most of the rest faced a limited service. Unite the Union

members - including around 430 drivers in Ayrshire - voted 98 per cent in favour of taking industrial action after they rejected a four per cent pay offer which the union said came with

“strings attached”. Stagecoach have said that drivers in Dumfries and Galloway have accepted an 11.8 per cent pay offer over two years but the same offer was rejected by drivers in Ayrshire.

been reached with Unite to ensure our drivers receive a pay increase, despite our continued commitment to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. “Since negotiations began in November, 30

different offers of above inflation increase to combine salary and terms, have been proposed and rejected by Unite. “We remain committed to ensuring that drivers do receive a pay increase

and we call on Unite to meet with us to reach a resolution to avoid further industrial action. “West Scotland drivers are due a pay increase following them accepting a two year, 13 per cent

pay increase deal at the end of 2022. “This strike action is causing unnecessary disruption across our Ayrshire communities and we urge our employees and Unite to reconsider their position.

“Due to the planned industrial action, there will be a reduced bus service across Ayrshire on Monday, June 2 with information available on the Stagecoach app”. Pay negotiations between Unite

and Stagecoach had restarted at the end of April after an initial wave of strikes across seven separate day in May was announced. Further strikes are planned for Monday, June 2 and Friday

June 6 before a sustained six weeks of walkouts from Monday, June 9 and lasting until Monday, July 21. Article continues below DON'T MISS THE LATEST AYRSHIRE HEADLINES – sign up to our
