BBC CLASSIC SITCOM ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES HAS SPARKED A WAVE OF UNUSUAL PET NAMES, WITH FANS CALLING THEIR POOCHES, CATS AND EVEN LIZARDS THE LIKES OF DENZIL, RODNEY AND BOYCIE DOMINIK

LEMANSKI 18:40, 30 May 2025Updated 18:02, 31 May 2025 The much-loved TV show Only Fools and Horses is inspiring a new wave of animal owners with names for their pets. Rover and Felix could

be on the way out after a surge in mutts and mogs being given monikers from the iconic BBC sitcom. Favourites include Denzil and Rodney for dogs, Cassandra, Boycie and Marlene for cats, and

budgies named Mickey Pearce. Lizard owners have christened their critters Del and Raquel, whilst someone named a bearded dragon Damian after Del Boy’s son. One fan took the trend even

further and named his son ‘Harrison’ after a watchmaker from the series. The trend was revealed on the Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society Facebook page. Sonia Pandora Cherry Williams

revealed she had named her dog Elsie after medium Elsie Partridge, an occasional love interest of Albert Trotter. She sparked the debate asking diehards: “Does anyone have a pet named after

an Only Fools and Horses character even if a minor one?” Article continues below Show fans quickly piled in revealing many had used Fools and Horses character names for their own pets. One

said: “Yes. Currently have a dog called Denzil, cat called Cassandra, and a budgie called Mickey Pearce.” Another said of his dog: “I’ve got a 42 carat plonker called Rodney. “As soon as I

met him at rescue (centre) I knew he was a plonker so could only have one name…. a name he has lived up to every second, of every day since.” While another joked: “Not a pet but I named my

son Harrison after the famous watchmaker, he’s not happy that I keep him in the garage though.” Last week Del Boy’s Reliant Regal three-wheeler was crowned TV and film lovers’ favourite

motor by insurance giant Go Compare. And earlier this month we told how Fools and Horses fans are buzzing over a plan to release Star Wars-style Del Boy, Rodney and Uncle Albert action

figures, and how a French woman went in for tonsil surgery and woke up sounding like Del Boy. Laetitia, who lives in the western region of Sarthe, woke up sounding like a bit of a plonker

after her throat surgery, and now sounds uncannily like the wheeler dealer from south London. Article continues below The 47-year-old was having her tonsils removed, and although she still

speaks her native French language, her accent now sounds like she’s from Blighty. She has suffered from Foreign Accent Syndrome since the op in 2014. _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND
