on a Greater Manchester road. The emergency crew, including the Greater Manchester Police, dashed to Porritt Street, Bury, just past 8pm on Monday (May 19) after reports of a crash between
a motor and a pedestrian. The young man, who's yet to be named officially, has tragically passed away. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police declared: "Following the
incident, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody for questioning. "A scene remains in place and an investigation is now being run by our
Major Incident Team with enquiries ongoing.", reports the Manchester Evening News. "As their work continues, officers are appealing for information and anyone who may have
witnessed last night's events. "This includes anyone with any dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area at the time of the incident." Detective Superintendent
Wesley Knights stated: "Firstly, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time. "This is a truly tragic
incident which has seen a young man lose his life, I would like to reassure the public that this is a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to the community. "Local officers will
remain in the area making enquiries, as well as an increased number of highly visible patrols overnight and into Tuesday. If you have any concerns, please speak to them. "Anyone with
information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 3460 of 19/05/2025 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111." Road closures are now in
place in the area, as Bury Council confirmed: "Road closures are in place at Porritt Street and Hawk Close following an incident last night to allow for police investigations. it means
there is no access to St Pauls County Primary School which is closed today. Huntley Mount Medical Centre is open." Parents bringing their children to St Paul's CE Primary School,
