US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP HAS UNLEASHED A FURIOUS OUTBURST AGAINST VLADIMIR PUTIN, ACCUSING THE RUSSIAN LEADER OF 'TAPPING US ALONG' AMID PEACE TALKS WITH UKRAINE 01:09, 29 May
2025Updated 01:10, 29 May 2025 US President Donald Trump has smacked Putin with another warning, saying that the Russian dictator might be "tapping us along" while continuing his
aggressive military push in Kyiv. Trump unleashed his latest tirade following Putin's intensified insistence that the West must steer clear of Russia's ex-Soviet domains, and even
demanding written assurances to stop NATO's eastward march, according to the Sun. Senior Russian figures have told Reuters that Putin is after a "written" pledge from Western
chiefs, guaranteeing that NATO won't grow to include countries like Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. At the heart of the ongoing stalemate is Putin's staunch opposition to NATO
expansion, insisting that Ukrainian membership is unacceptable under any circumstances. However, Kyiv has made it clear that Moscow has no right to interfere in its sovereign decisions,
including the pursuit of NATO membership. These demands come as world leaders' tolerance starts to fray, with Trump at the forefront urging Putin to get serious about peace
negotiations. Speaking to the press at the White House on Wednesday, Trump was forthright: "We're going to find out whether or not he's tapping us along or not, and if he is,
we'll respond a little differently." Even after an extensive chat with Putin just last week, Trump admitted he still "can't tell" if the Russian leader is truly
after a truce. Trump posted on his Truth Social account : "What Vladimir Putin doesn't realize is that if it weren't for me, lots of really bad things would have already
happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He's playing with fire!" Medvedev, now deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council and a vocal supporter of Putin, hit back on X:
"Regarding Trump's words about Putin 'playing with fire' and 'really bad things' happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing - WWIII. I hope Trump
understands this!" Despite the increased rhetoric between the US and Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that Moscow had proposed another round of peace talks with
Ukraine to take place on June 2 in Istanbul. Kyiv has yet to respond to the invitation. Meanwhile, the conflict on the ground shows no signs of abating. In a dramatic nocturnal operation,
Ukraine executed a harsh retaliatory strike on Moscow following Russia's three-day aerial onslaught. Ukrainian forces aimed at crucial infrastructure in Moscow's Zelenograd
district, allegedly causing damage to an essential microchip facility. Article continues below Blasts were also reported at a drone production plant and another defence installation in
Dubna. Both locations are thought to have suffered substantial damage, delivering a new setback to the Kremlin's military operations. Russia's defence ministry alleges that Ukraine
launched nearly 300 drones overnight in the audacious counterstrike. _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR, SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER BY
