Humans will be able to live forever by 2050, a top boffin has claimed. Futurologist Dr Ian Pearson reckons the rich will use advanced tech to upload their brain to computers or android
bodies. And he believes advances in computing, genetic engineering, and robotics will let people become immortal. Dr Pearson said: “By 2050, it will only really be for the rich and famous”.
But he expects the tech will be more affordable by the 2060s for middle-class people. The expert said genetic engineering could reverse aging, keeping cells young and healthy. And gizmos
like brain-computer interfaces could let people “upload” their minds into virtual reality or android bodies. He added: “This would allow people to have multiple existences and identities, or
to carry on living long after their biological death.” It comes after Ray Kurzweil, a respected futurist, predicted that by 2029, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will match human’s brains. And
the merger between humans and machines - like in the hit Terminator films - could lead to people becoming immortal. Kurzweil, an ex- Google engineer, wrote: “A key capability in the 2030s
will be to connect the upper ranges of our neocortices to the cloud, which will directly extend our thinking.” The boffin has previously correctly predicted computers beating chess champions
and the rise of smartphones. He also believes AI will transform society, making food and housing cheaper and connecting human brains to the cloud via devices like tycoon Elon Musk’s
Neuralink. And by 2045, the futurist said humans could become cyborgs, capable of copying their minds or downloading into new bodies printed with advanced tech. He said: “Rather than AI
being a competitor, it will become an extension of ourselves.” Elsewhere, biotech firms like Altos Labs in the US are testing treatments that have extended the lives of mice. The news comes
after we reported how psycho chatbots will be able to teach children more than twice as fast as teachers within a decade, a top AI boffin believes. Cyber boffins say chatbot personal tutors
will also be “less boring” than humans when it comes to giving school lessons. The British-born “godfather of AI” Geoffrey Hinton – who won a Nobel Prize for his work on the technology – is
among those claiming they will do away with the need for teachers. He said AI tutors can be “much more efficient”. _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE
