GUEST LOUISE SMITH WAS SHELL SHOCKED TO SEE TOURISTS STANDING IN LINE FOR THE BEST SUNBATHING SPOTS - SHE THEN WITNESSED THE HUGE WAVE OF THEM RACING TO THE POOL THE SECOND IT OPENED CHARLIE

WATTON 18:00, 06 Jun 2025 Sunbed wars are taking place at the hotel used in the filming of TV show Benidorm. Brit holidaymakers staying at the iconic venue have been spotted queuing for up

to two hours to get the best loungers. Scenes at the fictitious Solana Hotel from the ITV series were recorded at the Sol Pelicanos Ocas in Benidorm, Spain. Guest Louise Smith was shell

shocked to see tourists standing in line for the best sunbathing spots. She then witnessed the huge wave of them racing to the pool the second it opened. Despite having a large pool area

that features heavily in the show, the eager guests could be seen racing to their desired beds after workers lifted the ropes. The bizarre footage was captured from Louise’s balcony. “Mick

would definitely have a few choice words for them,” Louise told Luxury Travel Daily. Article continues below “I don’t think any of the characters would approve. People started queuing from

7:30am. “I think it’s ridiculous. You go on holiday to relax, not to wake up super early to claim a sunbed.” Fellow Brits were left shocked by the behaviour. Kelly-Ann Wass said: “I’ve been

here for a week and gone down at 10am and always managed to get a bed.” Jay added: “Wouldn’t call that a relaxing holiday fighting for sunbeds.” Mo said: “This is not a holiday to me, get up

and having to queue everyday, no thanks.” One added: “People pay thousands to go away on holiday and get up to queue for sun beds.” Another said: “It’s hilarious to watch this is actually

tame.” It happened at 9am on 27 May. The Sol Pelicanos Ocas has been approached for comment. It comes after a couple from York hit back at critics after they were slammed for reserving

sunbeds with towels during a breakfast break on their Turkish getaway. Rachel McGuigan and her hubby David, who both work in the water gardening biz, were soaking up the sun with pals Adam

and Hayley. The holidaymakers stayed at The Residence Hotel in Fethiye, but Rachel stirred up a storm when she chucked towels on their poolside loungers before heading off to scoff some

brekkie. One miffed vacationer, Harry Crumb, didn't mince his words, saying: "I just remove them, if full. I don't care and the hotel doesn't care." Another peeved

guest suggested a more drastic measure: "Just throw the towels in the pool. It's not allowed to do this in most hotels and resorts." Yet, someone else jumped to the

couple's defence, remarking: "I don't understand. I thought it was normal to get up, grab your towels, pop them on your bed then go for breakfast." Article continues

below Rachel opened up to What's The Jam about the towel tiff, expressing her shock at the backlash for merely leaving a towel for a quick bite: "They accused me of being selfish

and all sorts.", reports the Mirror. Not one to shy away from controversy, Rachel took to her 'Holidays and Hangovers' TikTok page to share her side of the story. She even

cheekily fanned the flames by posting a spoof video where she nips out at 5.30am to plant towels on loungers, pretending to head off on a string of bogus day trips until nightfall.
