Premier League players race F1 car on pitch inside stadium as star admits 'I was scared'Three Leeds United speedsters put their money where their mouth is as they raced against a Red Bull
car piloted by F2 star Arvid Lindblad on the pitch at Elland RoadCommentsSportWill Schofield Senior Sports Reporter14:40, 04 Jun 2025Leeds players raced an F1 car(Image: Courtesy of Red

However, that didn't stop newly-promoted Leeds United trio Willy Gnonto, Largie Ramazani, and Isaac Schmidt sizing themselves up against Red Bull's car - piloted by F2 star Arvid Lindblad -
at Elland Road.
It was advantage the footballers, if you can call it that, with the slick tyres of the machine having to deal with the wet surface of the Elland Road pitch and performing a 180 degree turn
as they raced from penalty box to penalty box.
"Ahead of the race I was a bit nervous. I’d never driven on grass and had no idea how it would go – only Red Bull would make something like this happen," Lindblad joked after the ambitious
crossover.
And his fears came true as the machine struggled for grip on the football pitch. Its wheels spun, presumably to the chagrin of the groundsmen, as the three footballers sped away.

horsepower and there is not much grip on grass, so I wasn’t sure if I could go full throttle and turn the car properly," he added as he was back level at the halfway mark.
Lindblad would accelerate again and leave them in the dust, or mud in this case.
He continued: "It was great fun to challenge my skills and compete against footballers rather than other drivers.”

League after topping the Championship last season - and they did so after partnering with the energy drink giants last summer.
Red Bull have sponsored a number of football clubs across the globe, often changing the name of the club such as Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig and Red Bull New York.
However, their involvement at Leeds has been limited to a shirt sponsor.
