Actress Katherine Waterston talks at Deadline’s The Contenders about _not_ getting a part in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s _The Master_, and how it worked out a year later. Despite her skeptical
lack of preparation the second time around, Waterston was named to play Shasta in Anderson’s newest film, the ’70s L.A. noir yarn _Inherent Vice_, which Anderson wrote based on a Thomas
Pynchon novel. The film also stars Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin and Taylor Bonin. Producers are Anderson and his frequent collaborators, the husband-and-wife team of Daniel Lupi and JoAnne
Sellar, who were nominated for Oscars with Anderson for_ There Will Be Blood_. Warner Bros. is releasing _Inherent Vice _this weekend, after it first debuted at the New York Film Festival
earlier this fall, followed by the AFI Fest. Are you looking forward to Anderson’s latest film? It’s already picked up some critical love for its soundtrack by Jonny Greenwood, best known as
a member of British art-rock band Radiohead.
