Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff has agreed a settlement with BBC Studios after he sustained serious facial injuries in an accident while filming _Top Gear _last year. BBC Studios, the BBC’s


commercial arm, confirmed the deal on Friday but did not disclose the value of the payout. _The Sun_ reported that it is worth £9M ($11M) to Flintoff. BBC Studios said: “BBC Studios has


reached an agreement with Freddie that we believe supports his continued rehabilitation, return to work and future plans. We have sincerely apologised to Freddie and will continue to support


him with his recovery.” Flintoff was involved in a crash at _Top Gear_‘s test track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey on December 13, 2022. He was driving a three-wheeled open-top Morgan


Super 3, which flipped over, causing facial injuries and broken ribs, according to reports. WATCH ON DEADLINE The former England cricket star has since quit the BBC1 show, but has made


several public appearances in recent weeks. His facial injuries, which required hospital treatment and surgery, have been visible. The Health and Safety Executive said the _Top Gear


_accident did not require further investigation, but BBC Studios launched an external review in March, the results of which may never be made public. Filming on _Top Gear _Season 34 was


paused. The incident has sparked wild speculation about the future of _Top Gear_, with BBC sources telling Deadline that the show may never return. The BBC insists that no decision has been


made. The settlement with Flintoff will be paid by BBC Studios and not out of the license fee.
