Police said the deceased, Muniyappa of Swantantra Nagar in Srirampura, had been working as a watchman at the JD(S) office for more than 20 years. A 55-year-old security guard was found
murdered at the Janata Dal (Secular) office on Race Course Road, police said on Thursday. Police said the deceased, Muniyappa of Swantantra Nagar in Srirampura, had been working as a
watchman at the JD(S) office for more than 20 years. JD-S spokesperson and member of the legislative council YSV Dutta said his party postponed the election, slated for Thursday, to elect
its state president following Muniyappa’s death. The new date of the election would be announced later. Police ruled out political rivalry as the motive of the murder. They were suspecting
that an extra-marital relationship might have resulted in the incident. Muniappa had two wives, and was suspected to have an illicit relationship with a third woman. The murder came to light
around 7.30 am on Thursday. Muniappa was apparently dragged into an office room, where he was beaten and stabbed. Muniyappa had been assigned night duty, but he had reached the office
around 4 pm on Wednesday. He was last seen alive around 10 pm. Police said he might have been killed on Wednesday night itself. The police registered a case based on a complaint by Ramesh
Babu, a JD(S) functionary.
