160 crore. It is a rare occurrence in Indian academia that a donor wishes to remain anonymous. IIT-B said that the money is meant for a Green Energy and Sustainability Research Hub. The hub
will be located within a state-of-the-art academic building on the IIT Bombay campus in suburban Powai in Mumbai and its focus will extend to critically important areas, IIT said in a
statement. The unknown person isn't the biggest donor for IIT. Indian IT czar, Nandan Nilekani, recently donated Rs 315 crore to IIT. Nandan Nilekani had studied electrical engineering
at IIT Bombay from 1973 to 1977. IIT Bombay has named the building after him. In total, he has paid Rs 400 crore to the institute. IIT Bombay is one of the most sought after colleges for
engineering in India. Nilekani is the co-founder of the tech giant. He quit Infosys in 2009. He was brought back as a board member in 2017. He also spearheaded the Aadhaar project. His net
worth is Rs 23100 crore.
