NORTH SOMERSET GRYPHONS HOCKEY CLUB WOMENS 1st TEAM COACH North Somerset Hockey Club was formed in 1997 from a merger between Brean & Portishead Hockey Clubs. Both Brean and Portishead
achieved various levels of success with Brean playing in the national league hockey in the late 1980’s. Both clubs started to experience a reduction in playing numbers in the late 90’s, and
were brought together to form North Somerset. Based in Portishead, we draw players from throughout the area including Weston-super-Mare and Bristol. The Womens section merged with Somerset
Gryphons HC at the start of season 2022-23 and now play under the name of North Somerset Gryphons. You will find us a friendly, welcoming, and sociable Club. In the last couple of seasons,
we have obtained a superb new pitch, and pitch-side facilities, in conjunction with Gordano School in Portishead. Our good governance was recognised in 2019 with the coveted Sport
England/England Hockey Clubmark award. With 3 womens sides, 3 mens sides and a large flourishing junior section that is now providing quality players to the Club, the Womens 1s are sitting
comfortably in West Women’s Division 2 with a target of promotion in the short term. We are looking for a talented, personable and enthusiastic head coach to be the training lead for the
Womens 1st team. This would probably be an EH Level 2 (or higher) qualified coach role. In addition, the coach will work together with the coaches of the 2nd and 3rd squads to ensure best
practices across the Womens section of the Club. Job role would include a minimum of: * Pre-season training and friendlies attendance * 1 training session of 1.5 hours to be delivered on
Tuesday evenings * Saturday (and occasionally Sunday) attendance at home and away fixtures with the Womens 1st team Pay is flexible and competitive to match qualifications and amount of time
dedicated to the club and to be discussed further on application. To start as soon as possible for the 2025-26 season. Skills and Abilities Required * Good tactical knowledge of Hockey
styles of play, tactics and pressing * Ability to inspire players, to organise a squad and promote objective selection of players * Influence & inspire players through good
communication & inter-personal skills. * Plan, deliver & evaluate coaching sessions to ensure they are high quality & meet team goals * Ability to set individual player
objectives * Ability to balance fitness training and skills development in sessions All Club coaches are subject to DBS/criminal record checking
