senior forecaster Brooke Oakley said average temperatures in April were usually between 16 and 20 degrees.

“On Tuesday and Wednesday we’re expecting slightly above average maximum temperatures,” she said.

“Monday and Thursday are closer to average.”

Ms Oakley said although there were possible showers forecast, they were unlikely to translate into much rain.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we’re expecting slightly above average maximum temperatures

- Brooke Oakley “For April on average the North gets approximately 10 days where there is some rain, and that adds up to a total average of between 50 and 100mm in a month,” she said.

“For the rest of this week we’re expecting showers on Monday and Wednesday, and … there’s not much in them, so only 1mm or so.

“The main day for rain in the North is Thursday because we have a front crossing, and we’re still not expecting a lot on Thursday, but more in the 1-5mm range.”
