for the disclosure of donations to be made in a more timely manner, but the state government has confirmed it would stay in line with federal rules.
The calls came after it was revealed Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull donated $1.75 million of his own money to the Liberal Party, as well as calling for greater transparency in governments.
“There's absolutely no reason why information, which is going to be disclosed anyway, can't be disclosed in a more timely matter,” Ms Dawkins said.
In previous years, the Labor and Liberal parties have received donations from the Federal Group, but Ms Dawkins said this raised concerns as political discussions on gaming are set to
continue this year.
“We're in a time where the community really wants to have a broad discussion, not just around the deed, but around poker machines in our pubs and clubs,” Ms Dawkins said.
Liberal state director Sam McQuestin said the party’s position was clear.
“We believe that the same disclosure rules should apply at both a federal and state level, and if changes are made at a federal level we will of course abide by them,” Mr McQuestion said.
“As it happens, we haven’t received any donations from Federal Group during the last financial year, or so far this financial year.”
In recent years, the Greens have also accepted significant donations from high-end gambler Duncan Turpie.
