for A Night of Drag booked St Ailbe's Hall over a month in advance, dancer and former George Town resident Sean Spinks said.

About a week before the date St Ailbe's Hall suddenly cancelled, citing a parishioner complaint against the drag queens as the reason.

Mr Spinks, who now lives in Melbourne, said that he had travelled to Launceston to map out the stage at St Ailbe's Hall and plan the show accordingly.

Two queens were booked to fly from Melbourne along with Mr Spinks and one was travelling up from Hobart.

was the president of the organising committee, were "distraught" to be left without a venue so close to the event.

"I was just as upset [as mum]," he said.

"When you get right down to it is discrimination against the LGBT community, and we live in 2019. And it was a fundraiser as well.

"I think they should think about all the people that they were affecting. I don't just mean the LGBT community, I mean everyone that was going to the event, everyone who was organising.

"It was so hard to find a venue one week out, especially at this time of year."

A spokesperson for the Catholic Archdiocese of Hobart said they were unable to contact the priest at St Ailbe's Hall as he was overseas.

"The Launceston Catholic Parish is unable to comment as it does not have all of the information at hand," the spokesperson said.

A Night of Drag was a fundraiser for children at Bee Bop Dance Studio to go to Disneyland.

Despite the venue roadbump, Mr Spinks said it was an "amazing" night with "so many happy faces".

"Giving people a new experience was just amazing for me," he said.

"Everyone was just asking when we're coming back, and 100 per cent we're going to try and do another show.

"And I want to give a massive thank you to Max Fry Hall for being available, and to the committee for working so hard and getting everything back on track."

A Night of Drag raised over $1500 for Bee Bop Studio's Dance to Disney.
