2020 - 6:00pmFacebookTwitterWhatsappEmailCopyFAVOURITE: Mystical Pursuit, ridden by Victorian jockey Billy Egan, wins at Mowbray last month. She is favourite for Sunday's $150,000 Tasmanian

Oaks. Trainer Adam Trinder doesn't necessarily agree with the early market on Sunday's $150,000 Tasmanian Oaks but he is confident his top filly Mystical Pursuit will be hard to beat.

Sportsbet opened Mystical Pursuit favourite at $2, narrowly ahead of her arch-rival and Strutt Stakes conqueror Still A Star at $2.40.

"I'm not a punter but I'd say they should be about the same price," Trinder said.

"There's nothing between them and, as was the case in the Strutt Stakes, the filly that gets the best run in transit will win."

Trinder said he expected Mystical Pursuit to race much closer to the lead than she did in the Hobart feature when she stormed home from eighth at the 800m to fail in a photo-finish.

"We weren't totally confident of her running the 2100m before that race so we rode her conservatively early and she got caught up in traffic," the trainer said.

"With the small field in the Oaks, I expect her to stay much closer - I'd like to think she could even end up on the leader's back."

Victorian filly Look Sharpish, trained by Leon and Troy Corstens, was the only other runner under double-figure odds in the opening market.

Mystical Pursuit and Still A Star are the only locals in an eight-horse field.

Australian Hall Of Fame David Hayes will have two runners as he chases his fourth win in the race.

However both Sacred Valley and Bellx are outsiders.

Hayes won with Maha Chakri in 2007, Rock Robster in 2012 and Global Balance in 2013.

SPORTSBET MARKET -

2.00 Mystical Pursuit; 2.40 Still A Star; 7.00 Look Sharpish; 13.00 Ocean Heart; 21.00 Durability; 26.00 Sacred Valley; 51.00 Let's Nail It; 61.00 Bellx.

CUP SHAPING AS SIMILAR AFFAIR Toorak Affair will face a similar field to the one she beat in the Hobart Cup when she chases a $100,000 bonus in next Wednesday's Launceston Cup.

Should the mare complete the double, the bonus will be shared 50/50 by trainer Michael Trinder and her owners.

Hobart Cup winner Toorak Affair will face a similar field in next Wednesday's Launceston Cup. The 18 nominations for the Launceston Cup include nine of the horses that Toorak Affair left in

her wake at Elwick.

They include interstate stayers Taikomochi, who ran fourth, Home By Midnight (6th), Morton's Fork (7th) and Dogmatic (9th).

There are also three interstate entries that didn't contest the Hobart Cup - Naval Warfare, trained by Chris Waller, and Rockarall and Tatalina, both trained by Tony McEvoy.

Naval Warfare was also nominated for Hobart but didn't accept.

Leading local trainer Scott Brunton has also added an X-factor to the race by nominating Tasmanian Derby winner Vamos Raffa.

Weights for the Launceston Cup will be released on Thursday and final acceptances taken at 9am on Friday.

The barrier draw for the cup will be held over until a function at Mowbray on Friday night.

MAJOR TO SHOW HE'S BURNIE BOSS Leading bookmaker Robin Wilson has Boss Major early favourite to win Sunday's $12,000 Burnie Cup.

Wilson made his market available to the club's calcutta function on Tuesday night.

Polemarker Hafter brought the top price at the calcutta on Sunday night's Burnie Cup. He quoted the Rohan Hillier-trained gelding at $2.50 ahead of Goggo Gee Gee at $3.20 and Hafter at

$4.40.

Polemarker Hafter brought the top price of $450 at the calcutta which has a first prize of just over $1400.

He was bought by his drawer, Brett Collins, who effectively has odds of $6.40 on a $225 investment.

Goggo Gee Gee sold for $310 and Boss Major for $300.

Boss Major has won five races since transferring from Victoria to the Hillier stable at Beauty Point, including a standing-start at Scottsdale when he raced in the death.

Goggo Gee Gee, trained at Frankford by Rachel Williams, has been runner-up at five of his past six starts, including a career-best second to Illegal Immigrant in the Devonport Cup.

Hafter, from the powerful Todd Rattray stable, has mixed recent form but, the last time he drew the pole, he led all the way in a mobile race at Devonport.

CUP MARKET -

2.50 Boss Major, 3.20 Goggo Gee Gee, 4.40 Hafter, 10.00 Gotta Good Reason, 13.00 Blackbird Power, 14.00 Frosty Flyer, 15.00 Still Of The Night, Northview Dave, 18.00 Somedan, 21.00 Just Say

Go, 26.00 Red River Glacier.
