A gang of man armed with baseball bats and a hammer were caught ransacking someone's home. The terrified victim was in the house at the time of the "extremely distressing"
raid. South Yorkshire Police were at the scene in the Beighton area within 15 minutes of being called at 3.42am on Thursday, May 29. The suspects fled but by 5.53 - just 12 minutes later -
one of the suspects was in the back of a police van. Police launched a search of the area where they found the remaining two suspects, who were promptly arrested. A spokesperson for the
force said: "The speedy actions of officers in Sheffield have led to three men being arrested on suspicion of a variety of offences. At 3.41am on Thursday (29 May) we were called to
reports of a burglary in progress at a home in the Beighton area. It was reported three suspects had used weapons, including baseball bats and a hammer, to break into the address.
"Officers were on scene in less than 15 minutes and one man was in our custody by 3.53am. A search of the surrounding area was then carried out and two more men were arrested
nearby." The three men - aged 43, 47 and 49 - have been bailed with conditions while the investigation continues. The 43-year-old man was arrested for attempted burglary, the 47 year
old was for aggravated burglary and the 49 year old man for aggravated burglary, going equipped for theft and possession of an offensive weapon. Detective Inspector Iain Rawlins said:
"The quick actions of officers who responded to this incident ensured the safety of the victim in what was undoubtedly an extremely distressing episode for them. "The impact of
burglaries is often felt by victims long after the initial crime and we know the harm these opportunist criminals can cause to communities. We're working hard to investigate the
incident in Beighton and I'd urge anyone who has information about what happened, and is yet to speak to police, to come forward and do so. The intelligence you provide us with could
prove crucial as our enquiries continue". If you have any information call 101 and quote incident number 102 of 29 May 2025. _GET ALL THE LATEST AND BREAKING SHEFFIELD NEWS STRAIGHT TO
