A girl who died after falling into a West Yorkshire reservoir has been named as her school paid moving tribute. Qudsiyah Mahmood, 13, died after she fell over the parapet at Baitings
Reservoir, near Ripponden, at around 1.20pm, on Wednesday. According to witnesses, she had been taking photographs with her dad during a half-term walk. YorkshireLive reported on Thursday
how Qudsiyah's father was seen clutching his chest and screaming her name before being taken away in an ambulance. Police Regional Marine and Underwater Search units searched the
reservoir and a body was found on Friday. The BBC reports that Qudsiyah's headteacher paid tribute to her in an email sent to parents of pupils at Crossley Heath School in Halifax. In
the email, she was described as a "bright, kind and friendly young person who brought happiness to our school". Headteacher Dean Jones said: "Our thoughts and prayers are very
much with her family now and always." Mr Jones said fellow pupils would be offered support in school and staff were "here to listen and help" families affected." He
added: "I am ever so sorry to share this news. However, as a school family I want you to know we are there side by side with Qudsiyah's family, all in our Crossley's school
family and our community to offer the best support we can." GET BREAKING NEWS IN YORKSHIRE STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE Get all the latest big and breaking Yorkshire news straight to your
