Water engineers closed a section of Westbourne Road in Marsh over the weekend and by 2pm today (Monday, June 2) the road remained closed near the Co-op. The road is a main route to and from
the M62 and Huddersfield town centre. Diversions are in place.
Local businesses said they did not know when the road is due to reopen. Akram Mohammedpour, who runs Pino's takeaway in Westbourne Road, said the road had been closed 'three of
four days' and it had hit takings due to reduced traffic.
"It has got to be sorted quickly as business is already down. We are struggling." Local resident Corinne said side roads were being used as diversions which had added to the inconvenience.
Adding: "You want to see progress (on the roadworks) and you want to know when they are going to end. People will be happier when they know a timescale."
