ASDA plans to overtake rival Tesco as the country’s biggest non-food retailer within five years
Chief executive Andy Bond, who this week announced his surprise move to a part-time role, yesterday told analysts that Asda’s sales performance lagged behind its rivals and it had “more work
to do to sharpen up in store”.
The firm also plans to open about 80 smaller shops within five years, in competition with Tesco’s Metro and Express stores.
