Sainsbury’s have issued an urgent food recall after some of their products were discovered to contain allergens that were not disclosed on the product label, posing a possible health risk

for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to egg. These are the items to watch out for. The products that are affected are by Sainsbury’s Vegan Deli-Style Coleslaw 300 gram packs with a best

before date up to and including 23 December 2019. All batch codes are affected. Sainsbury’s 300 gram Vegan Potato Salad, with a use by date up to and including 23 December 2019, is also

affected by the recall. Sainsbury’s has taken action to right their wrong by issuing an urgent product recall from customers and have contacted the relevant allergy support organisations.

The organisation will then get in touch with members about the recall. The supermarket giant has also issued a “point-of-sale” notice to its customers, the Food Standard Agency said. The

purpose of the notice is to explain to customers why the product is being recalled and to tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Sainsbury’s released the following statement:

“It has been brought to our attention that the above products may contain traces of egg which is not declared on the packs. “As a precautionary measure, we are asking customers who have

purchased the above products and have an allergy or an intolerance to egg, to return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store, where they will receive a full refund. “For any concerns or

questions regarding this, please contact our Careline on 0800 636 262 or by email to [email protected] “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.”

Those who have bought the product are being urged not to eat the food to avoid a risk. Instead, they can return it to the store it was bought where they will be given a full refund for the

item. The advice provided by the Food Standard Agency states: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg do not eat it. Instead return it to the store

from where it was bought for a full refund.” No other Sainsbury’s products are known to be affected. John Lewis have also issued an urgent food recall on one of their top selling Christmas
