Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons issue food recall warning including salmonella risk

Play all audios:

A food recall has been issued for products which are stocked in stores including Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. Some items have been recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella

posing a health risk.

SFC have recalled a number of batches of their chicken products sold in Sainsbury's and Morrisons.

A statement from the Food Standards Agency said: "SFC are recalling SFC Chicken Poppets and Take Home Boneless Bucket because Salmonella has been found in the products."

The manufacturer made the recall as a precautionary measure as salmonella could be found in some packs.

This would make the food item unsafe for customers to consume.

Salmonella can cause symptoms such as sickness, fever, and stomach cramps.

Point of sale notices will be displayed in stores stocking the item to give customers more information on the recall and what they should do.

Best before: November 28, 2021

Batch codes beginning with 'PKW' can be found on the outside of the box, and batch codes beginning with 'L' can be found inside.

Anyone with the affected packs should not eat the product and instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.

Alternatively, customers can email a photo of the product packaging showing the batch code to [email protected].

A statement from Sainsbury's added: "We are asking customers who have purchased this product not to eat it and to return the item to their nearest Sainsbury’s store for a full refund when

they next visit for groceries and other essentials.

"SFC Wholesale would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause."

No other products are believed to be affected by the recall.

Tesco also has a recall for Tesco Finest Festive Fruit & Nut Selection as consumers may still have the item at home.

A Tesco statement said: "We’ve been made aware by our supplier that some packs of Tesco Finest Festive Fruit & Nut Selection have been packed in Tesco Finest Festive Belgian Dark Chocolate

Brazil Nuts packaging.

"This means that sulphur dioxide is not mentioned on the label, so the mispackaged product is a possible risk to customers with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide or sulphites.

The packs affected have the batch code L0075004 with a best before date of May 2021.

Food recall warnings are issued when a potential risk is indentified with a product. This should be taken seriously by consumers.
