McDonald's UK commissioned the fashion industry icon to bring his glamorous aesthetic to create a luxe burger box for its Signature Collection - its range of gourmet burgers.  The

burgers, which are exclusively available in selected restaurants, include The Classic, The BBQ and The Spicy.  All three burgers are freshly prepared in restaurants, use high quality

ingredients and feature a thicker 100% British and Irish beef patty, measuring 20mm thick uncooked.  The Signature Collection has been on trial in selected restaurants, and following great

customer response, will now be available in more than 900 McDonald's restaurants across the UK by year-end.  The Julien Macdonald boxes will be in a limited run of 1,000 and only

available at a series of McDonald's showcase events around the UK.  One special box, embellished by Julien himself, will be unveiled at McDonald's Leicester Square restaurant, and

opportunities will be explores to donate proceeds o fits auction to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  At the unveiling of his creation for The Signature Collection at the

restaurant's Leicester Square branch today, Julien revealed how he developed the box's design.  He said: "It's something that is kind of fun and supposed to make people

happy. I've done lots of collaborations but I've never den a food collaboration.  "I'm a huge fan of McDonald's, my mum goes once a week, it's like her weekly

treat, and I went as a little boy. It's very accessible to people and I like that about it.  "The design of the box is very very glamorous, very glitzy, a bit rock 'n'

roll and shows my love of metallic and baroque - things that are quite over the top.  "It's something you'd never expect to find on a burger box."  To win tickets to the

showcase events, and be in for a chance to win one of only 1,000 bespoke boxes, visit the McDonald's website.  Back in June, the fast food giant launched its McDelivery service through

UberEats, with orders available from 22 locations across the capital and another 10 restaurants in Leeds and Nottingham.  It came after similar tie-ups with Uber in the US, while

McDonald's already delivers in China and Singapore.  Customers can now order food through the UberEats app, which then uses Uber couriers to deliver the food.  McDelivery is available

on breakfast, lunch and dinner menus from 7am to 2am, although customers must live within 1.5 miles of restaurants in the trial.
